Recognized the 20th Anniversary of the Circle of Health at the 6th Global Forum on Health Promotion.
Invited to Brazil to speak at the roundtable for the Brazilian Association for Canadian Studies (ABECAN) Congress and to provide workshops on the Circle of Health at the University of Goias and the University of Brasilia.
Invited as one of two Canadians to participate as a resource person in a workshop series that brought together professors, students, researchers, managers, community workers and institutional partners in Brazil to exchange knowledge about intersectoral collaboration for local development. Sponsored by the Intersectoral Action for Health Project – AIPS (CPHA-CIDA)
Submitted an unsolicited proposal to Health Canada Atlantic Region which was successful in launching the Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities. The Institute recently completed its fifteenth season.
Participated in the first Canadian-USA Women’s Health Conference, Ottawa.
Celebrated my 70th birthday canoeing on the canals of Hamburg, Germany with my children and grandchildren.
Invited to return to Brazil, to facilitate a workshop on the Circle of Health at the University of Brasilia and to meet with federal and state officials to discuss the potential of using the Circle of Health to support the implementation of national health promotion policy.
Invited to provide facilitator training on the Circle of Health in a summer school held in Serbia, May 2009. Sponsored by CPHA – Balkans project
Invited to present to the Senate Sub-Committee on Population Health on November 28th to discuss the population health reforms in Prince Edward Island from 1991-1997.
Provided leadership to the development of the Circle of Health through a unique two-day process and community/system partnership.
Chaired the Entry to Practice Committee, Association of Nurses of PEI resulting in commitment by PEI Government for a baccalaureate program in nursing at the University of Prince Edward Island.
